Michael Davies is passionate about providing effective risk, resilience and recovery solutions for organisations. During the last two decades in the Risk, Resilience & Business Continuity Industry, Michael has assisted companies across different industries in planning for and handling disruptions. Michael has also had the privilege to speak about Risk, Resilience and Business Continuity Management (BCM) at various conferences in Africa and has been the author of many articles on leading edge concepts on the topic. Michael was CEO of the leading BCM service provider in Africa, and left the company in March 2021, after 18 years with the company. Whilst at the helm of the company it won numerous prestigious awards including being inducted into the Global Business Continuity Institute (BCI) Hall of Fame after winning the Continuity and Resilience Provider award for Africa for 3 consecutive years. Michael’s current focus is to help organisations integrate strategy, risk and resilience to remain effective and sustainable in times of great uncertainty and accelerating
change.

Governance, Risk and Compliance Specialist
Dale Connock has spent more than 40 years in the Financial Services Industry and has extensive experience in the Governance, Risk and Compliance arena, initially in the Retail and Commercial banking environment before moving into the capital markets where he held the position of Chief Risk Officer at Strate, the Central Securities Depository in South Africa. Dale has an in depth understanding of the capital markets, retail and wholesale payment and clearing systems and the risk landscape in general. Dale has consulted extensively across the continent on matters relating to the establishment and effective management of Financial Market Infrastructures.
Governance, Risk and Compliance Specialist
Robert Davies is an admitted attorney and member of the Corporate Lawyers Association of South Africa and has extensive experience in corporate law and governance, including regulatory matters, compliance, finance and restructuring. He was previously the Head of Legal Risk Management for a major listed company where his roles and responsibilities included developing the Group’s Legal Risk Management Framework together with an array of automated services including an online contract management system, a litigation database and reporting system and a web-based Governance, Risk & Compliance Knowledge Centre which provides efficient access to regulatory and compliance resources and toolkits.
Robert specialises in advising clients on regulatory and legislative matters (including POPIA, FICA and Cyberlaw) and drafts contracts, forms and policies to ensure compliance with the law. He adopts a direct and clear approach on all client matters and believes in providing services which ensure that his clients’ needs are met with solutions which are practical, effective and delivered with efficiency.

Timothy Gilman has a background in Ethical Hacking stemming from childhood, through to achieving distinction grades at college in ICT & Software Development. Progressing through different sectors of security, Timothy progressed from corporate site security, advanced CCTV systems and access control before engaging a full-time career in Offensive Cyber Security and associated intelligence disciplines. Timothy’s 25 years of experience in ICT and offensive cyber security has led to the training of other industry operatives and he currently provides routine training and development to organisations including law firms and luxury vehicle brands. Timothy’s core skills include penetration testing, cloud security audits, cyber threat intelligence, open-source intelligence and investigations as well as counter-intelligence. Timothy has provided disclosures that have been pivotal in the protection of critical national infrastructure and maintains strong ethical values including the right to privacy and security of information and holds a strong belief in the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Defenders 1998.

Gary Elliot is passionate about providing effective penetration testing for organisations to improve the security posture of systems and applications. Gary has been involved in the Cyber Security Industry for 10 years after having spent 20 years in the IT Industry providing support, systems and network administration. Gary has assisted clients across various industries with improving the security postures of their networks and applications ranging from internal and external infrastructure, wireless infrastructure, web and mobile application penetration testing. Gary’s core skills include infrastructure and web application penetration testing, risk assessments and mitigation as well as incident response. Gary is of the strong opinion that Cyber Security is not simply about technologies and technical solutions but that procedural and human factors are as vital. As such, Gary is a strong advocate of ensuring that Cyber Security is embedded in all business processes and will always take account of the business need and impact of any recommendations made.
